Walt Disney World - Disney's Hollywood Studios

Bay Lake, FL

About the project

Based on a concept by Marty Sklar, Randy Bright, and Michael Eisner, the park opened on May 1, 1989, as the Disney–MGM Studios Theme Park, and was the third of four theme parks built at Walt Disney World. The park was renamed in 2008 Disney's Hollywood Studios, reflecting its broader focus on the magic of movies beyond the MGM partnership. The park was designed to give guests a glimpse into the glamour and excitement of the entertainment industry. The park’s design mirrored a working studio lot, complete with sound stages, backlots, and production facilities, providing visitors with an authentic behind-the-scenes experience. The project encompassed over 135 acres, functioning as a television, movie, and music production studio.

Projects constructed include:

  • MGM Studio The Backlot Express Restaurant
  • MGM Studio Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular!
  • MGM Studio Catastrophe Canyon Action Ride
  • MGM Studio Audio Video Audience Participation Theaters
  • MGM Studio The Main Wall and Gate Entry
