Meet Lee
Chief Executive Officer
Hometown: Lubbock, TX
Lee grew up in Lubbock and was exposed to the construction industry from an early age, where he often helped his dad who had a local construction business. Lee said, “My father was a tough contractor. I was actually a competitor of my father when I started my company. He taught me all the values of hard work, to do it right and honestly; that’s one thing he did teach me. He was a good builder."
Lee has earned many distinguished awards throughout his career, such as being named the Texas Techsan recipient for the ‘Youngest Successful Contractor in the US’ in 1987 and Dallas Contractor of the Year in 2008 by the Dallas Chapter of the AIA (American Institute of Architects) to name a few.
What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
Something that has always stuck with me is what my first banker, Wayne Finnell, told me when I was first getting started: “Cinch by the inch, hard by the yard … Don’t trade old friends for new friends.” I took those words to heart and implemented them into my daily life. I never dreamed that Lee Lewis Construction Inc. would be where it is today: I literally took it one day at a time, one project at a time, one owner at a time. Success doesn’t happen overnight; you have to take it “inch by inch.”
Meet Ryan
Chief Operating Officer
Hometown: Lubbock, TX
Growing up in Lubbock, deeply immersed in the construction industry, it was inevitable that Ryan would eventually join the family business. Having had earlier careers in public safety and emergency medicine, his professional life has been about being there for others in their time of need with no room for failure, translating perfectly into commercial construction and the legacy of Lee Lewis Construction. From childhood, it was ingrained in him, that no matter what business you're in, it is about the people we serve and being there for them when they need us. The single best legacy he hopes to continue at LLCI is to maintain the relationship-driven, people-first culture that was established from day one.
Ryan is a residency-trained, board-certified Emergency Medicine Physician. He has held various board positions, executive positions, teaching positions, and other roles related to business, emergency medicine, special operations, and the training and operational support of law enforcement, EMS, and military personnel.
Ryan enjoys spending time with his wife Michelle and their three children, as well as playing golf and any other outdoor activity with friends and family. When his schedule allows it, he works an occasional shift in the ER – keeping up his passion for emergency medicine and maintaining his board certification while continuing to serve others.
