About the project

The Alice Ponder Elementary School replacement is a compact two-story, 84,445 SF facility with a capacity to accommodate 800 students. The new building incorporates sustainable features such as a high-reflective flexible roof membrane system, geothermal mechanical systems, and LED lighting to enhance energy efficiency and lower operational costs. Existing access points to the site were reused, retaining 400 feet of the original concrete pavement for the drop-off and pick-up areas on the west side of the property. Special attention was given to the flow of vehicular traffic on-site while maximizing open space for play areas. The façade of the new Alice Ponder Elementary School reflects the surrounding neighborhood with a modern design that complements the nearby Rogene Worley Middle School.
