The Brushy Creek Elementary School project, funded by the 2018 Bond, included a 26,000 SF expansion and renovations to the existing building. The new two-story addition features collaborative learning rooms, outdoor spaces for third through fifth graders, and 16 classrooms with moveable partitions for a more flexible learning environment. Maker spaces and small group rooms were added on both floors, eliminating the need for the 16 portable buildings that were previously on the campus. The new building has an enclosed corridor connecting it to the current structure, making it safe to go from one building to the next. There a fire lane extension was also required to accommodate the updated layout.
The original building, opened in 1981, received extensive renovations, including an expanded cafeteria, single-point light controls, ceiling improvements, and a comprehensive interior refresh. The gymnasium underwent major updates, including raising the ceiling by 10 feet and adding clerestory windows to increase incoming natural light.
