Lovejoy ISD’s new above-ground training swimming pool was built at Sloan Creek Intermediate School in the area previously occupied by tennis courts. This addition, part of the district’s 2014 bond program, has greatly improved the accessibility of the school’s swimming program. The removable air dome cover encloses a 25-meter above-ground lap pool used for training and competitive swimming. The cover features a translucent skylight allowing plenty of natural light through during the daytime. The facility is designed to offer Lovejoy ISD the option to seasonally dismantle the cover to allow for outdoor swimming in the summer months. LISD will use the pool for the middle school and high school swim and dive programs and the local aquatics club will also use the pool. The school provided locker rooms and parking facilities without additional expenses for the district.
