The Gene A. Buinger Career & Technical Academy for Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD is designed to serve the district’s secondary student body in career preparation, advancement, and post-secondary opportunities by giving them hands-on, real-world experiences. The hub of the new facility is the Commons area located on the first floor at the main entrance. This is a multi-use space for student gatherings, lectures, and events. The new facility has 12 regular classrooms, four science labs, and two lecture halls. The lecture hall on the first-floor seats 125 students in tiered fixed seats, and the second-floor lecture room is designed to be more flexible with a level floor area to accommodate 75 students with moveable chairs and tables. Additionally, there are two computer labs, one on the first floor and one on the second floor, adding to the versatility of the building to accommodate multiple programs. The new career center provides a unique opportunity for all HEB ISD high school students preparing their lives for differing and challenging career choices.
