The Gilbreath-Reed Career and Technical Center serves as a hub for juniors and seniors from all seven high schools within Garland ISD, offering opportunities to explore career interests beyond their home campuses. This state-of-the-art facility bridges education and local industry, providing students with hands-on experiences in environments designed to mirror today’s workplaces.
The center features makerspaces, collaborative areas, and experimental learning zones that foster cross-disciplinary integration and real-world application. A central corridor serves as the backbone of the building, doubling as an event space and showcase area for student projects. Thoughtful spatial design optimizes efficiency and flexibility, with program-specific spaces like publicly accessible labs tailored for diverse educational needs. Among its standout features is the Garland ISD and Junior Achievement “BizTown,” an innovative space where sixth graders gain insights into participating in a global economy. Through partnerships with various corporations, students explore careers while understanding their roles within a simulated town. Each program emphasizes career connections and the interplay between industries.
Debuting in the 2017–2018 school year, the Gilbreath-Reed Career and Technical Center exemplifies modern, integrated learning, offering students a dynamic environment to prepare for their futures.
