Balmorhea ISD’s school was built in 1956 and had a few additions years ago, but the core of the building had never been touched. The school's infrastructure was completely shot, especially the plumbing lines and electrical. The new school sits on 76 acres, donated by a rancher, and houses 150 students from Pre-K through 12th grade and 39 staff members, all in one building. The new state-of-the-art school is designed to have learning studios built around the classrooms and have cooperative group learning, as well as in-classroom learning. They will have a new football stadium, with athletic facilities, as well as an Ag Shop and Barn with a show ring, a gym, and a playground for the young children.
